Prevent Duty

The Prevent Duty is a legal obligation in the United Kingdom under the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015, aimed at preventing individuals from being drawn into terrorism or becoming involved in extremist activities.

We are aware of the Prevent Duty and its significance in safeguarding children and promoting community cohesion. We provide annual training to staff members to recognise signs of radicalisation, extremism, or concerning behaviour among children.

We promote the fundamental British values within our curriculum to promote tolerance, diversity, and resilience against extremist ideas. Our Current Affairs assembly and lessons provided by Votes for schools assists us with this. Children learn about online safety and responsible internet use, ensuring that they understand the potential dangers of online radicalisation.
